Therapeutic Care

Project overview

Therapeutic Care is an Irish resource for foster carers, social carers and all those seeking to effect change through nurturing relationships. The person behind is Damien McLellan who has been working with children and young people in therapeutic residential care for many years.

He wanted to create a website that would serve as a forum for all carers, trainers and providers to share ideas and thinking that would promote better outcomes for all concerned. His plan was to gather all the rich material he found useful and make it easily accessible on this website.

We built his original website many years ago, so when the opportunity arose to re-do it, we were more than happy to help him out. Not only is he hugely knowledgeable and passionate about his chosen field, he is an excellent communicator and great fun to be around.

The client wanted a ‘restful, Irish-looking’ website. It includes the latest instalments from his new manual on therapeutic care, a wide variety of academic papers and student dissertations and his latest blog posts. It also features links to Carlow College (where he teaches) and other centres of excellence such as the The Bulberry Bush and The International Centre for Therapeutic Care. The site is built in such a way that the client can update himself, as and when required. The feedback has been excellent so far, and hopefully the website will continue to serve as a valuable resource.
