Their old logo was a bit dull and boring, and while they wanted something new, they didn’t want anything too modern or cool. Afterall, they’re a law firm, not an Internet company. They wanted a classic contemporary look, in keeping with their professional service status. The last thing they wanted was something brash or trendy that might appeal to some people but alienate others, especially longstanding clients and cautious businesses. Therein lies the challenge with a lot of design projects. While it’s tempting to design a ‘cool’ logo, if it doesn’t speak to the target audience and meet the brief, it’s just a vanity exercise.
As you can see, the logo we designed played on the letters L and C, creating a subtle but effective look. It has an understated, elegant simplicity and works well across different media, even in different colours. That’s the key to good logo design. It should be flexible enough to work online and offline, big and small, monochrome and full colour.
