CMunity Hub

Project overview

CMunity Hub provides official listings of services for children, young people and families in Cavan and Monaghan. This includes information on health, mental health, education, disability, youth, childcare and other services. The website is operated and supported by both Cavan and Monaghan CYPSC which is made up of statutory, community and voluntary agencies in the region.

They liked the work we did for other CYPSC organisations around the county, such as Laois, Offaly and Limerick. Their previous website had become a bit stale and unwieldy, so they felt they needed a new look and fresh start. We really enjoyed this project. It took a while to get going because there was quite a bit of deliberation about the name and logo, but it was worth it. The new brand and website have been warmly received by everyone involved.

Branding

As mentioned in the introduction, their previous website had become a bit neglected in recent years. Technically it was fine, but it lacked personality. It needed a new identity, starting with the name. After some initial discussions and brainstorming, we settled on ‘CMunity Hub’. It was a play on the word ‘Community’ preceded by the first letters of Cavan and Monaghan. Thankfully, the domain was available (always a key consideration).

As for the logo design, we created a graphic based on the geographic outline of the two counties – Cavan and Monaghan. We then incorporated our own version of the smiley emoji to give it a warm, friendly appearance. The result is a logo that speaks to the local audience and is welcoming to all. The colours of green, white, black and orange gave us plenty of contrast and a nice palette tp carryover to the new website.
