Mincéirí Port Láirge

Project overview

Mincéirí Port Láirge (formerly known as Waterford Traveller Community Development Project) is a Traveller led organisation in Waterford. It seeks to improve the quality of life, living circumstances, status, and participation of Travellers through working for social justice, greater solidarity, development, equality, and human rights. They approached us having seen the work we had done for other community organisations. We were impressed by their professionalism and were delighted to get involved. They’re a great bunch of people and do much needed work to improve living conditions and campaign for equal rights.

The first step in the project was to design a new logo. After much discussion, it was agreed to design something around the wagon wheel – a powerful symbol in traveller culture and a distinct mark of their ethnic identity. The resultant logo is a modern twist on the old symbol so it’s both contemporary and traditional. Once in place, we designed a new brochure, stationery items, banner stand and strategic document, consulting with them throughout. We also dealt with the printers and other suppliers on their behalf.

Passion for Creative designed our beautiful logo and new website in consultation with Waterford Travellers and the staff and management of Mincéirí Port Láirge. We are delighted with the finished result. When it was officially launched by Minister O’Gorman and our chairperson Mary Lou McInerney, the feedback was hugely positive. It was great to have the Passion team on board. Thank you all for time, patience and efforts.
