COS Cardio
New Brand
Firstly, we had to come up with a name for the practice. We could have used his actual name – Cróchán O’Sullivan – but he didn’t want it to be all about him. There was also the issue of domain availability (crucial in this day and age) and legibility (Cróchán is a nice name but it’s not the easiest to spell or pronounce).
The solution was COS CARDIO. The first three letters (COS) stand for Cróchán O’Sullivan and CARDIO is shorthand for cardiology (the cornerstone of his work).
With regards the style, Cróchán was a big fan of Swiss design, having practised there for a few years. We are also very fond of Swiss design – the minimalism, clean lines and typographical elegance.
As for the colours, we chose a combination of blue and white with red as a third colour, all very compatible with cardiology, but not in the traditional order (most people think of red first when they think of cardiology).
