Project overview

HEFSE is calling for the immediate implementation of the Higgins Report which offers agreed oversight, equity and governance of the annual billion euro South/South West Hospitals Group Budget. The Cardiac Cath Lab at University Hospital Waterford serves the southeast region but only operates Monday – Friday, 9 – 5pm. All other regions in the country have 24/7 cardiac cover and access to more than one Cath Lab.

We offered our professional services to the campaign on a pro-bono basis because we strongly believed in the underlying principle and wanted to lend our support. This was a particularly high profile campaign, and while very time consuming, was hugely satisfying and rewarding.

We were tasked with designing and building a website to bring the campaign to a wider audience and serve as a single point of information for all those involved. What started out as a simple landing page quickly became a multi-page website with lots of unfolding content and imagery.

The challenge on this website was to manage the expectations of the multiple stakeholders. It’s not easy to deal with a steering committee, even if all its members are well intentioned. There can be different opinions and agendas; it’s our job to filter all the noise and channel the right information in the right direction.
