O’Shea Farms

Project overview

The O’Shea Family have been farming on the banks of the River Suir in Piltown, Co. Kilkenny for over 200 years. They work in partnership with Iverk Produce and over 50 local growing partners to supply potatoes and carrots to retailers and wholesalers across the country. With an emphasis on sustainability and community, O’Shea Farms are proud of their roots and play an active role in the local economy.

Our relationship with O’Shea Farms goes back many years. We built their original website back in day. We also built the website for their main partner – Iverk Produce. When the time came for a new website with a fresh design and additional pages, they turned to us again. We were delighted to help them, and together with their input, we were able to build a new website with just the right balance of modernity and tradition.

The key to this website was striking a balance between new and old. O’Shea Farms are a very modern company with state-of-the-art machinery, and yet, their underlying story is all about the land and the people who have been farming it for multiple generations. To capture that story, we used lots of natural, earthy colours and imagery. We also incorporated a timeline of the company’s history with lots of nostalgic family photographs.

While primarily geared towards retailers and wholesalers with lots of product information, the website also has a consumer education focus with interesting facts and nutritious recipes. We built the website in WordPress so it’s easy to manage and update. It’s also fully responsive, accessible and Google-friendly.
