The Sea Gardener

Project overview

Marie Power is the Sea Gardener. She is passionate about all things sea-related, especially seaweed. She harvests it, blends it, sells it, you name it. She runs seaweed workshops where she brings people on foraging expeditions and has written books on seaweed cookery.

We first met her a few years ago, and while she didn’t engage our services at the time, she liked our work and approach to branding. The next time our paths crossed, she had some work that needed doing and asked if we could help. She was pleasantly surprised with our quote and was delighted to finally work with us.

This was a great project to work on. From the initial logo and point of sale to various labels and product packaging, we designed everything she needed to promote her new product range in retail outlets such as SuperValu.

Her old logo never felt right (her words, not ours). It served a purpose by getting her up and running, but it wasn’t going to get her to the next level. She wanted something new and fresh, that would appeal to foodies and novices, that would look original and authentic.

In terms of design, we created a female head with hair made of seaweed. Colour wise, we stuck to blue and white, in keeping with the sea, and because they provided good contrast. For the font, again we kept it simple and in uppercase with the words ‘The Sea Gardener – Made with Seaweed’.

The team at Passion for Creative designed our new logo, product packaging and point of sale. The design process was very interesting and rewarding. It was also challenging at times which was good for a small company like ours. We are very pleased with the results. Passion were very clear about the brief and costs and there were no surprises or hidden extras. In fact, they went beyond our expectations to get the job done.
