Cosgraves Butchers

Project overview

Cosgraves are fifth generation family butchers. They were established in 1892 by Ellen Cosgrave, a woman ahead of her time. From their first shop on Eden Quay in Dublin, they have grown steadily and now have several outlets across the city. We first met Declan and his son Jeff in late 2019. They had been working with Bord Bia to re-evaluate their brand assets and asked us to help them. They knew they had a great story to tell but their branding wasn’t quite right and they wanted to rectify it. From the moment we met them, we were impressed not only by their business acumen but their gentlemanly conduct. It was clear they weren’t just in it for the money. They had a genuine love for their craft and a real interest in their customers.

While their old logo had served them well, they felt it was time for a change. If anything, the logo had strayed too far from its roots and needed to reconnect with the nostalgia of the bygone era and the traditional values associated with it. With that in mind, we designed a new logo with elements of the past and present. Central to the logo was their long history (established in 1892) and family involvement (five generations of family butchers).

In the client's own words

The team at Passion for Creative guided us hand in hand through the rebranding process. They really grasped our brand’s identity and pushed us forward to achieve our branding goals. We are very happy with the result and would highly recommend them.
