Blarney Credit Union

Project overview

Blarney Credit Union is a long-established credit union. We knew their CEO from his previous role in another credit union so when he joined Blarney CU and asked us to work with him, we were more than happy to do so. They needed to refresh their image and message. Their previous branding and marketing had become a bit staid and disjointed. They needed some fresh impetus and new thinking. We’ve always enjoyed projects like this where there’s an appetite for change and an opportunity for creativity.

Following an initial brainstorm (brand review) with the board of directors and management team (which we did over Zoom because of Covid restrictions), we came up with a Big Idea (brand story) called ‘By your side’ which everyone really liked. As a tagline, it neatly describes what they offer and stand for. For life’s ups and downs, they are always on hand for their members, offering financial and emotional support. It’s what they do. It’s why they exist.

In conjunction with the brand story, we designed a new logo and brand identity. We were inspired by the main square in Blarney – a green space that lies at the heart of the town. We were looking for something to represent their locality, something that would strike a chord with local people, a place where play with friends, hang out as teenagers, spend time with family, congregate as a community. The tree at the centre is a symbol of growth, strength and longevity.

We engaged the services of Passion for Creative to re-design our overall image and develop a marketing campaign. It was great working with them as we immediately found that they understood the Credit Union business. We are delighted with the work that Jill, Dan and all the team has done for us.
